Sights to Visit in surrounding areas
In order to fully take advantage of your vacation we have listed a
number of exceptional sights for you to visit while on the French Riviera.
Our family has been going here for years, and my mother was born in
Antibes, so we have a lot to share with you..
Walking distance
The public beach is located at the end of the main Boulevard just two
blocks away. The Old Town is located just east of the apartment and is a
gem of dozens of small shops, restaurants, cafe's and bars, as well as
permanent residences. Visit the open market each morning, and witness
the daily shopping habits of the residents at the butchers, the cheese
shop, the wine shop, and the fish market. Chateau Grimaldi houses the
Picasso Museum, the Place National offers great outdoor eating at
reasonable prices. The Marina, and restaurants along the old wall offer
excitement, especially in the evenings. Look for the "flowered sorbet" at
some of the stands, great relaxing outdoor cafe's and restaurants. You will
also enjoy the English pubs where English seems to be the main
language. Try your hand at Boules, the national French game. We have
the supplies in the entry closet, and it is not only a game of skill, but adds
the art of conversation to both players and spectators. Walk along the
coast from Antibes towards Juan les Pins. After entering this small town,
you can walk along the coastal paths just past the private beaches. At the
end of the east end of the public beach, you can walk up the trail to La
Garoupe sanctuary and lighthouse where you will reach a fantastic view of
the entire coast. For those unable to walk, you can reach this site by car.
Past the marina with yachts galore, is the Fort Carre' built in 1550 by King
Henri II. Juan les Pins offers night life, tropical dancers, casino, and
restaurants on the beach. There are also boat trips to the Islands off
Cannes, and glass bottom boat cruises.
